Azure Window Tattoo
Makes The News
The Azure Window also known as the Dwejra Window was a natural arch on the island of Gozo in Malta. It was located in Dwejra Bay and was one of Malta’s major tourist attractions.
The formation consisted of a pillar of rock rising from the sea and joined to the cliff by a horizontal slab. Following decades of natural erosion that caused parts of the arch to fall into the sea, the slab and pillar collapsed completely in stormy weather on the 8th March 2017.
Soon after the news broke, Martin Gafà and Rebecca Bonaci decided to pay tribute to the Azure Window by having it tattooed. News spread fast on social media and Martin was contacted by several journalists.
‘‘Martin Gafa` sat down as his business partner, Rebecca Bonaci, inked a fresh design into his skin: showcasing the window in all its former glory, the Mediterranean Sea and the setting sun behind.’’ – Times Of Malta.
